It's Week Four of the 'Some Girls Bite' read-along and I'm psyched to be taking part. The read-along is being hosted by Jenny, Tina, Rummanah, & Missie, and you can find out more details about the read-along by clicking on the banner above.
Here are the questions for Chapters 13 - 15 & Epilogue:
1. Chapter 13 opens with Merit describing her new job routine as House Sentinel. Considering that every job Cadogan House is important in helping to make the house run efficiently, which job do you think you'd like to have (guard, cook, social director, gardener, etc.) and why?
I would be a pretty useless guard, except possibly if vampirism really, REALLY increased my grace and badass-ery (like, by a zillion percent). I think a perfect job for me would be the Cadogan House librarian.
2. In the supernatural world of Chicagoland Vampires, politics seem to play an important role in the way the Houses are run. Now that you've been introduced to the Rogues, do you think it's better for vampires to be a part of a House or to live outside of one.
I think knowing what I know from reading all of the books to date I would just want to be a nice quiet rogue... except it would be ideal to be part of a small rogue family so that you have vampire companions without all the horrible drama and bureaucratic red tape that's associated with being a house vampire.
3. After Morgan openly asks to court Merit, she feels betrayed when Ethan commands her to accept for the show of alliance it could bring to Cadogan House. Do you think her reaction was warranted?
Um yes! How would you feel if this guy you have insane chemistry with forced you to date someone from a rival company just to keep relations between the two corporations at ease? It's so insulting to belittle Merit's role to a woman just using her sexual prowess instead of her intelligence, not to mention really hurtful/heartbreaking, because as Merit you would think Ethan has some kind of feelings for you, and then he pimps you out to another guy. Not so nice feeling. :/
4. When Ethan meets with the perpetrator of the murders, were you surprised to discover who it was? If you suspected someone, were your suspensions correct? What did you think of the perpetrator's motive?
Honestly I must say I was a bit surprised, but not entirely. I was more surprised with Amber's role in the whole thing, though. I was like "girlllll why would screw over Ethan when you could just..." Yah, I'll stop that rather crude thought there. =b No, but really, I'm like the worst person ever at figuring out whodunnit, so I wasn't entirely sure until the end. As for the motive, I don't know. It seemed a bit far-fetched and dramatic, but I guess it's silly to try and find a logical explanation behind someone who has no problem murdering people for their own agenda.
5. What was your favorite/least favorite parts of Some Girls Bite?
I really liked Merit and her strong sense of self. Whether you like or dislike her, I think you can agree that Merit is strong and knows what she wants and (for the most part) isn't afraid to go and get it. It was just a fun read where the vampires were different from other books/series I've read in the past. On the downside I felt some parts of it were too predictable and filled with tropes, and that some of the characters didn't really get a chance to be developed very well.
6. What do you think is coming up next for Merit, Sentinel of Cadogan House? Will you continue reading this series, and if so, what do you hope to see happen in the next book?
I actually did continue the series, and I've read all of them. I was curious about why so many people adored the series, and I was hoping the books would continue to get better. For the most part they did, and I definitely enjoyed reading them. For some reason this series didn't totally click with me, but I still liked them.
Glad you enjoyed the series for the most part Ashley! I think maybe being a vampire would increase your badassery, at least that's what I'm assuming since I said I would be a guard and I could never be that without some increased fighting skills:)
ReplyDeleteLOL! Ashley. I like the way your crude mind works! You're right. How could Amber screw him when he has been so generous in screwing her. LOL
ReplyDeleteI agree about some parts being way too predictable for my tastes. I'd say that though I'm only two books in, I'm not sure the series is really clicking with me either, but I still do kind of like it, mainly because I think the secondary characters are awesome. ;)
I think most of us weren't feeling the ending, or at least the motive. Felt off and like we were sidetracked the entire book. Oh well. Wow, you already read the other books?!
ReplyDeleteI know, I felt the same way with the Amber thing! Why would she mess up what she had. I don't even particularly like Ethan, but she did so why on earth would she go and mess that up? The girl has problems.
