Top Ten Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly feature hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Books I Feel As Though Everyone Has Read But Me

1. Hush Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick: I actually won a copy of this at one point, but I ended up giving it away. From what I've heard of Patch the book doesn't appeal to me at all. Still, I feel like practically every YA blogger has read it.

2. Pride & Prejudice by Jane Austen: I'm terrible, I know! I've watched so many different adaptations of this, and even read some P&P inspired books, but I haven't read the original. There's no excuse because I have the book on my Kobo.

3. Looking For Alaska by John Green: The only John Green I've read is 'Paper Towns', which I adored, so I'm not sure why I haven't read this one.

4. Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl: Well, this is a partial truth. I started reading it and I got about 1/4 of the way but I was SO FREAKING BORED. A very unpopular opinion, I know.

5. The Book Thief by Marcus Zusak: I've had this one on my TBR list for so, so long, but I just haven't picked it up for some reason.

6. Thirteen Reasons Why by Jay Asher: This one has been around almost every blog, and I had it on my radar for a long time before the resurgence earlier this year, but I just haven't read it yet.

7. The Thief by Megan Whalen Turner: I have no excuse for this one because I bought a copy of the book either earlier this year or late last year. I've heard so many good things about the series!

8. Forever by Judy Blume: I grew up in a semi-conservative Christian household, so even though I basically always chose my own books, I don't think I really ever had the opportunity to be exposed to Judy Blume's works.

9. Alanna: The First Adventure by Tamora Pierce: I never really read much fantasy up until a couple of years ago, but I've heard SUCH good things about Alanna that I will definitely have to read this series at some point.

10. Crank by Ellen Hopkins: I'm just... not really interested, which I know sounds bad. I've heard how powerful these books are, but I just don't like books about drugs and I'm not a big fan of novels in verse either.

I have to say this list was hard for me, because apparently I have very commercial tastes. There are probably some glaring omissions, but these are the ones I could think of, and even then I had to consult some lists.

So, which books haven't you read which you feel everyone else has? I look forward to checking out everyone's lists!

  1. I've only read one book of your list!! P & P when I was, like, 14 - I was a sophomore in Prep School, so it was either 14 or 15.

And that was only because I was obsessed with the Mini-series

So I feel like Everyone has read the same you mentioned, plus Twilight -which I never did finish.

    Awesome list

  2. Alanna is absolutely remarkable.

I have Paper Towns on my list -- I've actually never read anything by John Green. *ducks all in-coming tomatos* I'm about to start Will Grayson, Will Grayson though.

I haven't read Beautiful Creatures either.

  3. I was the exact same way with Beautiful Creatures. I read like 50-100 pgs and was sooooo not into it. Too bad the covers are freaking gorgeous!

  4. Hush Hush was okay, but I don't feel the need to read the rest of the series. Try Beautiful Creatures again if you want. It's a slow book, but it gets really rich and interesting.

  5. You're terrible for not having read Pride and Prejudice? I haven't read ANY classic books. Haha. Hush, Hush and Beautiful Creatures are on my list as well. Great list! :)

  6. I haven't read any of these except Hush, Hush, Thirteen Reasons Why and Forever! I was one of those people that loved Hush, Hush... And I'm a huge Judy Blume fan. Thirteen Reason Why is definitely one of those books you have to be in the mood for. It was a little depressing...

    My Top 10 Tuesday!

  8. You should be ashamed of yourself! Kidding, of course. There are SOOO many books out there that I feel like I should have read but, well, there's only so much time in the day. Happy reading! :)

  9. I've read a few titles from your list, though I'm sad to say I haven't read The Book Thief. It sounds like such a good book and a powerful story told within a trying period of history. I highly recommend Alanna: The First Adventure and it's three counterparts. :) They're a quick and enjoyable read. Have a wonderful day!

  10. I am totally with you on Hush, Hush and Beautiful Creatures. Maybe it is the size or content, I am not even sure.

  11. I haven't read Thirteen Reasons Why either. When it was popular I considered picking it up but now the momentum is gone. I did love Forever, though. Not sure it would pass the test of time, but it was educational and fun for me and my friends then! I'm not interested in Crank either. Maybe we can have a read-along with The Book Thief.

  12. Agree with you on The Book Thief.

I've read Thirteen Reasons Why after seeing so many good reviews. I didn't think it was that great personally, and neither did my friend who borrowed my copy. It's 'one of those books'
