Synopsis: (from Goodreads)
High school senior Justina Griffith was never the girl who dreamed of going to prom. Designer dresses and strappy heels? Not her thing. So she never expected her best friend, Ian Clark, to ask her.

Ian, who always passed her the baseball bat handle first.

Ian, who knew exactly when she needed red licorice.

Ian, who promised her the most amazing night at prom.

And then ditched her.

Now, as the sun rises over her small town, and with only the help of some opinionated ladies at the 7-Eleven, Justina must piece together — stain by stain on her thrift-store dress — exactly how she ended up dateless. A three-legged Chihuahua was involved. Along with a demolition derby-ready Cadillac. And there was that incident at the tattoo parlor. Plus the flying leap from Brian Sontag's moving car...

But to get the whole story, Justina will have to face the boy who ditched her. And discover if losing out at prom can ultimately lead to true love.

My Thoughts:
The story-telling in this book is fast-paced and frantic, and I absolutely loved how it was told. The whole framework of the story was great. I could just picture Justina in 7-Eleven telling the story about the previous night’s events.

The book features a crazy and fun casts of characters, especially the Mikes, Serenity, and Bliss. Ian is also super adorable and as you read the book you keep hoping that him and Justina will find their moment to connect. Justina herself is a bit crazy. Her jumping to conclusions drove me nuts, but she has such a sweetness about her (as the Mikes point out) that you can’t help but like her and be on her side.

‘Ditched’ is an extremely fun and lighthearted read. To see the whole story come together was very interesting, and if you’re looking for something light, funny, and a bit romantic, this is definitely one to look out for.

The Cover:
It's alright. The fonts are awesome, though. Love those! [Plus the cover might change before publication]

Rating:
[3/5]

  2. This sounds like a really fun read. Does it take place over 24 hours? I'm imagining like a comedy of errors sort of book where everything goes wrong. Sounds like it would be a cute movie too.

  3. Lucy -- yes it takes place pretty much over 24 hours. It's the night of prom and the morning after. It would definitely make a really good movie!

  6. How coincidental that I've posed a question about whether it is realistic that best friends fall in love in YA books as part of my writer's corner this week and I scroll down my blog list and you've reviewed a book with that very theme! Sounds like a great book too. Will be getting my hands on a copy for sure!
