(Long Overdue) Month in Review [November]

NOVEMBER

Number of...

Books Read: 21
Books Reviewed: 10
Challenge Books Read: 5 DAC books
eBooks Read: 15 [including Netgalley/GalleyGrab titles]
Library Books Read: 2

Favourite...

Standalone Book Read: Omigosh, tough call. Catching Jordan is standalone, although the next books are companion books, and that book was AMAZING. But I also fell in love with The Scorpio Races.
Series Book Read: Well, I read both Unearthly and Hallowed and really loved them!
Female Character: Jordan (Catching Jordan) made me laugh and I loved her athleticism, Puck Connelly (The Scorpio Races) was strong and would do anything for her family, & Claire (Morganville Vampires/Last Breath) is just generally awesome. A trifecta of girl power!
Male Character: umm, Tucker! (Unearthly/Hallowed) Yes, he is that awesome. But I would be remiss not to mention Henry (!!) from Catching Jordan, and Sean Kendrick of The Scorpio Races.

Gee, I wonder if you can tell which books I liked best in November?? ;)

Favourite...

Standalone Book Read: I didn't read very many, but of those I would say Unraveling Isobel by Eileen Cook. Awesome gothic setting featuring a cool main character, ghosts, and a sexy stepbrother.
Series Book Read: So many good ones this month!! I would say The Gray Wolf Throne by Cinda Williams Chime, and also The Name of the Star by Maureen Johnson
Female Character: Juliette from Shatter Me & Raisa from The Gray Wolf Throne.
Male Character: Adam from Shatter Me & Han from The Gray Wolf Throne (what can I say?? these books are filled with awesome characters).

List of Books Reviewed:

I was able to get my reviews up from last month, which makes me happy, and I can't wait to get my review for "Shatter Me" posted, because I really enjoyed it.

Favourite...

Standalone Book Read: I think that would be Lola and the Boy Next Door. I actually don't love it like I love 'Anna', but it still had magic to it.
Series Book Read: Hmm, tough call, put probably The Demon King.
Female Character: Honestly none of them really stood out to me as a favourite.
Male Character: Adrian Ivashkov in Bloodlines of course, and Cricket in Lola and the Boy Next Door.

Favourite...

Standalone Book Read: Complete tie between Wanderlove and Graffiti Moon ... I had a hard time reading and liking any book after these, I was that blown away.
Series Book Read: Tap & Gown (Secret Society Girl #4) -- this whole series is so awesome and fun, but I really fell in love with the fourth book.
Female Character: Deryn from Goliath (Leviathan trilogy)... she is so freaking strong and awesome as a middy, but she's still totally a girl with her adorable crush on Alek.
Male Character: Jamie from the Secret Society Girl books... I love how he's not what he seems, and the character transformation he brings about in Amy.

Books Reviewed: 14
Challenge Books Read: 0
eBooks Read: 25 [including Netgalley/GalleyGrab titles]
Library Books Read: 7

Favourite...

Book Read: I can't pick! Torrent & Ruby Red are very different (although they do both involve time travel), and are equally fabulous. And I have to mention the Morganville Vampires books, which blew me away (hence reading all 10 released books within a week).
Female Character: Audie from Into the Parallel -- Audie was just really awesome, and I loved how much she loved science. She's just a refreshingly normal girl who, oh yah, happens to be able to transport herself between universes.
Male Character: I'm having a tough time picking between Shane and Michael from Morganville Vampires. Michael is all responsible and smart (plus he has that musician thing going for him), but Shane is all rugged and protective.

Favourite...

Book Read: It doesn't get much better than Blood Red Road.
Female Character: Saba from Blood Red Road is so awesome, and I also loved Raisa from Threads and Flames.
Male Character: I can't pick one! Jack from Blood Red Road is epic, so he's probably my very favourite. But I also adored Daniel from The Gathering, and who can forget Marcello and Luca from Waterfall & Cascade?

Favourite...

Book Read: Divergent by Veronica Roth
Female Character: Tris from Divergent. She absolutely made my favourite heroines list. Honourable mention to Chelsea from Past Perfect.
Male Character: I have to list Tom from The Piper's Son because he was the main character, and I adored him even when he was a prat. But love interest wise, definitely Four from Divergent.

Physical Books Read: 17
Library Books Read: 14

Favourite...

Book Read: Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
Female Character: Evie from Paranormalcy by Kiersten White. She's so cute! Evie is completely kick butt and strong, but she also adores pink, watching teen soap operas on TV, and she has an obsession with all things normal teens have/do (lockers, prom, etc). I can see why people loved this book so much because Evie is great.
Male Character: Jonah Griggs from Jellicoe Road. I don't even know how to explain how awesome he is.

Favourite...

Book Read: I think it's a tie between Stay by Deb Caletti & The Liar Society by Lisa & Laura Roecker
Female Character: Kate from The Liar Society. She was tough, smart, and funny.
Male Character: Zachary from Shade & Shift [Jeri Smith-Ready] ... so, he's Scottish, which automatically makes him hot, but he's also smart, kind, and patient.
